The essential purpose of the EFBs Illetiracy Program is to reduce the number of illiterate people in poor areas in Egypt, aiming mainly at underprivileged individuals between the ages of 16 and 35. The program plans to provide two training programs per year, in order to reach its latter goal in a planned period of approximately 4 to 6 months by working with a total of 750 attendees.
The EFB has held partnerships for two years with other NGO’s in Suhaj governorate, as well as in Qenna, Giza and Cairo in addition to partnerships with the Adult Education Authority.
The initial phase of the program entails the use of up-to-date programs and daily skill trainings, in order ensure that the attendees benefit as much as possible from these training classes.
The EFB has previously participated in a program for illiteracy called “Ishraq”, the program was mainly dedicated to girls who are forced to abandon their education. Our main role was to make them aware of how important it is to be educated, have a healthy nutrition and other essencial aspects they lacked in their lives.
Ishraq Program Achievements:
2010: providing 22,295 food packages for girls who are being educated under this program.
2011: providing 19,800 food packages and the production of a manual about “healthy nutrition" facts.
